Kyla Pisio
Kyla is a Master of Science student at the University of Alberta with a professional background as a Primary Care Paramedic. Her research focuses on strengthening care systems for people who use substances and advancing the integration of addiction and mental health services within public health.
Her experience includes evaluating clinical addiction treatment programs, rehabilitation services, and harm reduction initiatives. This work involved assessing program effectiveness, identifying gaps in service delivery, and recommending strategies to strengthen recovery supports. Recently, Kyla contributed to an evaluation of a community-based program for military veterans transitioning to civilian life, which she helped develop a longitudinal framework to assess outcomes related to mental health and community integration.
