Claire Benny

Claire Benny, PhD, is a Research Assistant with the Inner City Health and Wellness Program (ICHWP) and a postdoctoral fellow at Public Health Ontario. Claire was raised in Prince George, BC, where she completed her BHSc Honours (2017), and moved to Vancouver shortly after, completing her MSc in Population and Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology at UBC (2019). In 2019, Claire moved to Edmonton, Alberta in pursuit of a PhD in Epidemiology (2023), researching the association between income inequality, mental health, and deaths attributable to drug poisoning, alcohol-related liver disease, and suicide. While her postdoctoral fellowship is focused in the field of equity in alcohol policy, Claire has research interests in social inequities, causal inference, mental health, and substance use. In her research assistantship, Claire lends her quantitative expertise to the ICHWP team.
