Abigail Persson

Abigail is a research student beginning her first year in the Master of Nurse Practitioner Practice program at the University of Alberta. She received her BSc in Nursing (Hons) at the University of Alberta in 2019. She then completed her Master of Nursing at the University of Calgary in 2025, with advanced practice certifications in addictions and mental health, as well as teaching and learning. Clinically, Abigail practices as a registered nurse in an urban emergency department, focused on both adult and pediatric emergency care.

She is keenly interested in research not only focused on the clinical concepts and applications of addiction and mental health studies of underserved populations, but also the related workforce challenges and secondary (vicarious) trauma of healthcare providers, perceptions of healthcare providers providing harm reduction, and lived experiences of healthcare providers living with mental health variances and chronic illness across disciplines.

Outside of her academic and clinical life, Abigail loves hiking, rock climbing, trying new restaurants, and curating music playlists.
